Born in Dallas, Ryan Houston is a 7th generation Texan and attended The St. Mark’s School of Texas during high school. His love for the outdoors originated at an early age while working on his family ranch in Bosque County. This is also where he first started to learn about farming and ranching. In 2000, Ryan graduated from the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University with a Major in Finance. After SMU he went on to start a 23-year career in the high-end custom home building business. His primary focus was building within Preston Hollow and the Park Cities of Dallas, but during the latter part of his career he began to take on custom home projects located on ranches. Through this process he realized that his true passion was spending time outdoors on these various ranches and decided to pursue a full-time career in Ranch & Land Real Estate.
Ryan runs a herd of Registered Red and Black Angus cows on his ranch that he is continually trying to improve. He also installed his first center pivot irrigation system on the ranch in 2004 to grow turf grass sod. He has since grown the operation to three center pivots irrigating a total of 330 acres along the Brazos River. Here he grows 419 Bermuda, Tiff Tuff Bermuda, Zeon Zoysia, and has supplied the complete renovation of Colonial Country Club, TCU’s football field, and many other marquee projects. He is also partnering with the nonprofit regenerative farm, Giving Tree Acres, by supplying land for their operation on his family’s ranch.
In 2024 Ryan joined TT Ranch Group at Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s to begin his career in ranch and land sales. The knowledge and skills he has gained through both operating his family’s ranch and his home building business provide a leg up for his clients who are looking to buy or sell land. His intimate knowledge of the state of Texas, and keen understanding of how to create value from land, are just a couple of the valuable assets Ryan possesses.
